An indigenous fifth grade student (16) was allegedly raped in Tanore, Rajshahi on 16 September 2023. Sources said that, on the incident day the victim with her 10-year-old brother went to the field at Salbari Sallapara village, half a kilometer away from her house to cut grass. At this, the perpetrators namely Md. Jony (22) son of Alek Chan forcefully raped the victim while Md. Ali (20) son of Abul Kalam helped Md. Jony by holding the victim younger brother. Later, when the victim shouted, a witness named Logen (35) son of Rubin came forward from nearby and the culprits ran away. The perpetrators and the victim are from Salbari, 1no. Kalma Union of Tanore Upazila of Rajshahi District.

Dulu Soren, (50) father of the victim lodged a complaint under the prevention of violence against women and children act with Tanore Police Station on 16 September 2023. The case no. is 25/236. On 17 September 2023 the police sent the victim to Rajshahi Medical College for medical test. Md. Abdur Rahim, Officer-in-Charge of Tanore Police Station said, investigation is underway to arrest the perpetrators.
