An Indigenous Woman was killed by miscreants in Rajshahi

It’s been alleged that, an Indigenous woman (48) was killed by cutting her throat by miscreants in her house at Roy Para near Raipara cemetery of Shahmokdum Police Station of Rajshahi Division on 16 September 2024. The deceased is known as Srirani Paharia wife of late Ajay Paharia. On the incident day at 8am when the neighbor saw her dead body, they informed the Shahmokdum Police immediately. Later, the police sent the dead body to Rajshahi Medical College for post mortem.
The neighbors said that, the victim used to stay alone in her house. She had no issue with anyone.
“I tried to know from locals whether the victim who was from Pahariya community had any land-related dispute or personal enmity. But the locals said so far they know there was no such issue”, said Bivuti Bhuson Mahato, Publicity Secretary of Jatiya Adivasi Parishad Central Committee.
Mamunur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge of Shahmokdum Police Station said, the police commissioner has already visited the spot. We are working to unravel the mystery of this murder. Whoever is involved in this incident will be brought under the law.
No one has been arrested in this connection till Wednesday said Sabina Yasmin, additional deputy police commissioner of Rajshahi.
However, no one has been arrested or claimed responsibility for the killing till now.
